Childhood obesity and diabetes is a growing problem all over the United States. Many children are eating the wrong foods, and not exercising.
Did you know that a large container of popcorn purchased at a movie theater could potentially hold 1,000 calories?

A celebration of healthy living
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - People living on Buffalo's west side celebrated good health.
The Hispanic Health Fair was held by the Raul and Toni Vazquez Foundation on Niagara Street Saturday afternoon.
The free event included screenings for diabetes, asthma, blood pressure and glaucoma.
Local health care providers, hospitals and community organizations joined forces to make it possible.
Raul Vazquez said, "If you don't treat and catch these diseases early, and manage them, we're going to run into a lot of complications, and unfortunately, all primary care is being delivered in emergency rooms, and we as taxpayers are going to pay more. Tackle these diseases earlier and not really pull away from these areas."
Screened patients were eligible for hourly raffles for computers and printers.
Hispanic Health Fair 2010
BUFFALO, NY ( WKBW ) A celebration of health and life took place Saturday in downtown Buffalo. Various tests and screenings were available free of charge for diabetes, high blood pressure, asthma, and other health issues.
Multimedia Watch The Video There were also bounce houses, music, entertainment, and raffles. The day's bigger message was to honor a local girl, Alexandra Reyes. Her body was donated to science, and her organs were able to save at least five lives. Her family was given a plaque and a check to help cover funeral costs.
"The most important part of today is that we have one of our staff members who has been doing a lot in the community, and her family were donors and they helped so many people," Raul Vazquez, the event organizer said, "and so we try as the Raul and Toni foundation to help them out. I get a lot in life, its time to give something back."
Many local politicians were also on hand today, including Senator Antoine Thompson and Mayor Byron Brown. They urged all people to be screened and tested to promote good health.
For more information on screenings and testings, you can call Urban Family Practice, one of the event's main sponsors, at 882-0366.
